2010 Volta Grand Prix Championship Announcement

What started as a modest club of kart racers has grown into the 2010 Volta Grand Prix championship, the Mid-Atlantic region's most affordable multi-track racing series. Competitive racing has arrived for well under $100 per event. It is open to anyone age 16 and above with a valid driver's license, and limited to a maximum of 30 drivers.

The 14 event series kicks off on February 27th in Sterling, Virginia and runs through October 16th at three distinct tracks. Allsports Grand Prix (Sterling) and American Indoor Karting (Fredericksburg, Virginia) are indoor tracks, while Summit Point Kart (Summit Point, West Virginia) is outdoor. All tracks use racing karts that can top 40 mph.

Initially formed as a MeetUp group (www.meetup.com/karting), the club now consists of over 200 members and has conducted more than 35 events. Many friendships and connections have been formed as a result of the camaraderie.

Founded by David Nguyen, an automotive engineer, Volta Grand Prix, LLC is working toward the eventual goal of electrifying motorsport using an electric vehicle currently under development. Click here for more info.
